With decades of dedicated practice in my field, I have had the immense privilege of being of service to countless individuals who have found themselves on my treatment table. Each session has offered me profound insights, not only into the physical ailments that bring people to seek help but also into the emotional and spiritual burdens they carry.
One particular day, amidst the fluorescent lights of a low end grocery store, I experienced a moment of clarity that would later inspire the name of my current Physical Therapy practice. As I stood in the pharmacy section, observing the throngs of people navigating the aisles, I couldn't help but notice the palpable heaviness that surrounded them. Many were pushing carts filled with unhealthy food choices, while others browsed the over-the-counter medications, scrutinizing pill organizers and waiting in line for their prescriptions. This scene painted a vivid picture of the struggles that so many face in their daily lives.

As a meditator and someone who works deeply with energies, I felt an overwhelming sense of heaviness that seemed to envelop the entire space. This heaviness mirrored what I often encounter during my sessions, where I work with individuals suffering from severe pain, chronic conditions, and the nearly hopeless despair that can accompany such distressing experiences. In those moments, my primary goal is to find ways for the body to let go of its burdens, to release tension, and to alleviate the oppressive weight that they carry.
In the midst of the abrasive fluorescent lighting and the mingling energies of collective discomfort and sickness in the pharmacy area, my practice in its most precice intention statement came into being. Light as an antidote to the darkness that was so prevalent. Just as turning up the light in a dark room exposes the hidden corners and clears away the shadows, so too does it serve to illuminate our thoughts and emotions. This illumination can lead to a lighter state of being, one where we can reduce the burdens of negative thinking, alleviate the inflammation that contributes to weight gain, and address the heaviness that often weighs down the heart. By freeing the heart, we create space for joy and serenity, which can be achieved by quieting the mind and remembering and putting our focus on our light and the light of others to expand our potential collective experience.

I stepped outside into the warm embrace of the sunshine. The sunlight felt like a gentle reminder of the power of light in our lives, and I took a moment to express my gratitude. I thanked the light for assisting me externally and internally. This experience reinforced my belief in the transformative power of light, both in the physical and metaphysical realms, and the importance of nurturing our inner light as a means of healing and liberation.
It also reminded me of a book that I came across years ago called
Levity. Here is another source that has inspired me during the ceremony, which is our "earth walk" versus what is seen in a grocery store midday heavy humanity... antidote...
You are light, practice remembering...
